- 2 cups fresh or dried figs, chopped
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- If using dried figs, soak them in warm water for 15 minutes; chop fresh figs.
- Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in vanilla.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Alternate adding the dry mixture and buttermilk to the wet ingredients until combined.
- Fold in the chopped figs gently.
- Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
