  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. If using dried figs, soak them in warm water for 15 minutes; chop fresh figs.
  3. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in vanilla.
  5. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Alternate adding the dry mixture and buttermilk to the wet ingredients until combined.
  7. Fold in the chopped figs gently.
  8. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  9. Cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
