Ingredients

  • 12 large pasta shells
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta shells in boiling salted water until al dente, then drain and cool.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté garlic, then add ground beef and cook until browned; season with salt and pepper.
  3. Mix cooked beef with ricotta, egg, and half of the mozzarella in a bowl.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and stuff each shell with the beef mixture, placing them in a baking dish open side up.
  5. Cover shells with marinara sauce and sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider using Italian seasoning in the beef mixture.
  • Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
