Before we get started, let’s gather our ingredients. You’ll need:
- 4 cups of cooked, shredded chicken
- 4 cups of chicken broth
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/4 cup of butter, melted
- 1 cup of diced carrots
- 1 cup of diced celery
- 1 cup of diced onion
- 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Shred the cooked chicken.
- Sauté the onion, carrots, and celery in melted butter until tender.
- Add chicken broth and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and stir in shredded chicken.
- Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper, then add milk and melted butter to form a soft dough.
- Drop dollops of dumpling mixture into the simmering broth.
- Cover and cook dumplings for about 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
- Using rotisserie chicken can save time.
- Do not lift the lid while cooking dumplings to maintain steam.
