Before we dive into the baking process, let’s gather our ingredients. You’ll need the following:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cups apples, peeled and diced (about 4 medium apples)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine diced apples with lemon juice, sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl and set aside.
- In another bowl, mix flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt, then stir in the melted butter until crumbly.
- Press two-thirds of the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread the apple mixture on top, and sprinkle the remaining crumble over it.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool for 10 minutes, then cut into squares or rectangles.
