  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup crushed nuts (pecans or walnuts work well)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together butter and granulated sugar, then add eggs and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients in another bowl, then combine with wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
  3. Gently fold in caramel sauce.
  4. Pour batter into a greased pan and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
