- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the oats, flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
- Spread half of the mixture into the prepared baking dish and press down firmly.
- Drizzle the caramel sauce over the base layer.
- Spread the remaining mixture on top of the caramel layer.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
