To make this scrumptious Braised Beef and Pork Ragu, you will need the following ingredients:
- 1 pound beef chuck, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 pound pork shoulder, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup red wine (optional)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a pot and sear beef and pork cubes until browned, then set aside.
- Sauté onion, carrots, and celery until soft, adding garlic last.
- Deglaze the pot with red wine, scraping up browned bits, and simmer until reduced.
- Add crushed tomatoes, beef broth, oregano, thyme, and seared meat. Season and bring to a simmer.
- Cover and braise on low heat for 2.5 to 3 hours until meat is tender.
- Adjust seasoning, serve hot garnished with fresh basil.
